Build a push notification app with AI

Start an iOS and Android app with Capacitor Push Notifications preinstalled, and have the Claude Code Agent wire up registration and notification handling.

A mobile starter with @capacitor/push-notifications in package.json, aimed at Firebase Cloud Messaging. The agent can implement device registration, token handling, and in-app notification UI.

Prompt ideas

Things to ask the AI agent

“Request notification permission and register the device on launch.”

“Store the device token in a Supabase table tied to the signed-in user.”

“Show an in-app banner when a notification arrives in the foreground.”

“Add a settings screen to turn notification categories on and off.”

How it works

From template to deployed app

  1. 1Sign up or sign in to CloudCode.
  2. 2Click New Project, give it a name, and choose "Capacitor Push Notifications" under Mobile (Capacitor).
  3. 3Open the preview — dependencies are read from package.json and fetched automatically.
  4. 4Describe what you want in the agent chat. The agent edits the files and the live preview updates.
  5. 5Deploy to Vercel from the Deploy panel when it's ready, or push the code to your GitHub repo.

FAQ

Questions about this template

How do I get a native iOS or Android build?

The starter includes a capacitor.config.ts and the Capacitor packages in package.json. You build and preview the web layer in CloudCode, then push to GitHub and run the standard Capacitor commands (build, npx cap sync, then open in Xcode or Android Studio) on a machine with the native toolchains installed.

Do I need Firebase?

The template targets Firebase Cloud Messaging, so you'll need a Firebase project and the platform config files when you build the native apps.

Is the template free to use?

Yes. Templates are available to every CloudCode account, and new accounts get free credits on signup with no card required.
